The role requires ensuring adherence to regulatory and industry standards, while achieving performance targets. Prior experience in the glass or chemical industry, particularly with furnace operations, is essential.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><u>Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:<\/u><\/p><ul><li>BEng\/BSc\/BTech Mechanical Engineering.<\/li><li>5+ years of maintenance engineering experience in the chemical\/glass industry<\/li><li>Siemens SCADA\/PLC troubleshooting knowledge (Advantageous)<\/li><li>Knowledge of the OSH Act, Environmental laws, ISO 9001 systems.<\/li><li>Excellent computer proficiency (Word, Excel, SAP, etc.)<\/li><li>Furnace rebuild and hot repair experience<\/li><li>Financial and budget management knowledge<\/li><li>Project Management knowledge<\/li><li>Computer-based engineering system knowledge.<\/li><li>Understanding of leadership, people management and HR\/IR systems &amp; processes<\/li><li>Holistic engineering knowledge and skills, including Electrical and Instrumentation<\/li><li>A valid Code 8 (or higher) driver\u2019s license.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><u>Duties and Responsibilities include:<\/u><\/p><p>\u00a0ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT<\/p><ul><li>Responsible for the site maintenance team, activities, development and performance.<\/li><li>Direct and mentor the site R&amp;M staff, identify people\/team skill strengths and weaknesses and implement training programs to improve their performance.<\/li><li>Manages site assets and spare parts systems.<\/li><li>Ensure compliance with site ISO9001 systems with maintenance activities.<\/li><li>Key Project Engineer responsible for the developing &amp; implementation of the Furnace Rebuild project ( 2026)<\/li><li>Responsible for maintaining the furnace for optimum OEE<\/li><li>Ensure site plant assets are maintained for optimum OEE<\/li><li>Responsible for developing and improving engineering information systems e.g ePAC<\/li><li>Responsible for developing, monitoring and managing contractor performance against set standards.<\/li><li>Formulate and implement initiatives to reduce Energy, CO2 emissions &amp; wastage.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>EHS MANAGEMENT<\/p><ul><li>Ensure the site complies with Engineering regulations under SA law and PQ Corporation standards.<\/li><li>Assists with the development of local EHS standards<\/li><li>Ensure EHS compliance is entrenched in all site R&amp;M activities<\/li><li>Responsible for site security processes.<\/li><li>Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are implemented<\/li><li>Ensures site Emergency teams are trained &amp; capable<\/li><li>Lead continuous improvement targets as an outcome of regular EHS audits and reviews.<\/li><li>Investigate site incidents and perform RCAs.<\/li><li>Corrects EHS deviations within the agreed timeframe.<\/li><li>Take a personal and proactive role in developing a site \u201cSafety Culture\u201d<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>PEOPLE MANAGEMENT<\/p><ul><li>Set clear targets\/objectives for self and team<\/li><li>Monitor individual and team performance against set targets\/objectives<\/li><li>Provides feedback in a manner, which encourages personal development.<\/li><li>Identifies engineering team and individual skill gaps<\/li><li>Implements training programs to close gaps<\/li><li>Take a personal proactive role in developing a site \u201cCan Do\u201d attitude.<\/li><li>Implements
