A national manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging has an opportunity for an experienced Millwright to join their production team in Diep River. Completed Trade Test, Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience essential.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Matric certificate or equivalent
• Qualified Millwright
• Having previous injection & compression moulding experience is advantageous
• Hydraulic and pneumatic experience essential
• Have at least 5 years’ maintenance experience in a production environment
• An ability to interact with employees at different levels
• Good communication skills and an active team player
• Logical and systematic problem solver
• A passion for Quality
• An ability to handle conflict and to diffuse it constructively
• A willingness to work overtime
• Have a proactive “Can do” attitude towards their work

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Conducting and co-coordinating all maintenance on machinery and equipment in the department
• Completing maintenance schedules and programmes for each machine as per supplier recommendation
• Building and controlling an inventory of spares for the machines
• Properly maintaining maintenance records as per ISO 9001 Quality System
• Attending to machine breakdowns
• Ordering of necessary equipment and tools for the factory when necessary
• Attending relevant meetings i.e. DRM’s Production Meetings, etc where necessary
• Assist production in achieving optimum efficiencies
• Advising on and implementing technical improvements where appropriate and cost-effective
• Actively ensuring that all machines are serviced, cared for, and maintained appropriately
• Be available for callouts/after-hours
• Ensuring that the machines are running for night shifts
• Seek and implement continuous improvement opportunities
• Involved in equipment installations and upgrades
