Our client in the plastic packaging manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced plastics manufacturing technician to join their production team in Diep River. N6, Plastics Experience and Own Transport are essential.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• N6 technical qualification minimum.
• 5+ years in a plastic production environment.
• 5+ years in fault-finding and process control.
• Strong communication skills.
• Own transport and driver’s license.
• Willingness for overtime and standby as needed.
• Strong understanding of processing materials.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills for equipment issues.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Assist production in achieving efficiencies by promptly attending to machinery and auxiliary equipment needs.
• Liaise with suppliers for timely installation of new machinery.
• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot process-related tooling.
• Analyze machine performance and quality systems using technology.
• Monitor and adjust equipment performance as needed.
• Troubleshoot and solve department problems.
• Stay updated on processing technology; implement improvements where cost-effective.
• Maintain good departmental relations and housekeeping.
• Assist maintenance team with equipment installation, repair, and replacement.
• Test and calibrate equipment for proper operation.
• Conduct research to develop new technologies or improve equipment.
• Injection and compression moulding experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, PLC, AC/DC Drives, and electronics.
• Train production staff in effective equipment use.
• Understand polymers used in HDPE product processing.
• Communicate with and manage suppliers and contractors.
• Manage projects and spares levels for process-related machinery.
